The Setup
- Equipment: 22LR only. Any action type. Any sight type. Front: bipod or bag only. Rear: bag only. No mechanical front rests or sleds. Spotting scopes may be used but will not be provided by match.
- Targets: 4-inch, 3-inch, 2-inch, 1 1/2 inch and 1 inch metal gongs fired from 100 meters. (The targets will be in the rams’ section of Addicks Range 4 and firing is from the right end of the covered concrete firing line.)
- Shooting Position: Sitting, from one of the existing shooting benches.
- Rounds Per Shooter: Each shooter gets 10 shots per string. (There are 5 strings in a match for a total of 50 shots)
- Time Limit: 2 1/2 minutes to complete the string, after your name is called. Time includes setting up your equipment.
The Order of Fire. Shooters must tell their spotter which gong they're going to shoot at prior to each shot.
- Shooters must start by aiming at the 4" gong.
- If you hit the 4” gong, you score 1 point and you may stay on the 4” gong or move to the 3” gong.
- If you hit the 3” gong, you score 2 points and you may stay on the 3” gong, move to the 2” gong or move back to the 4" gong.
- If you hit the 2” gong, you score 3 points and you may stay on the 2” gong , move to the 1 1/2” gong or move back to any larger gong.
- If you hit the 1 1/2” gong, you score 4 points and you may stay on the 1 1/2” gong, move to the 1” gong or move back to any larger gong.
- If you hit the 1" gong, you score 5 points and you may stay on the 1" gong or move back to any of larger gong.
Miss Rule: If you miss, you keep all your previously earned points but you must step back at least one gong in size.
Wrong Gong Rule: If you hit a gong different than the one you told the spotter before the shot, the shot counts as a zero and you must resume on the correct gong.
Example
Sam hits the 4” gong for 1 point. He chooses to advance to the 3” gong and hits it, scoring 2 more points. Sam then tries the 2” gong but misses, scoring zero. He must now return to the 3” gong. If he misses the 3” gong, that is another zero, and he must return to the 4” gong.
