About this event

Are you interested in getting started with shooting in the Across The Course (XTC) matches organized by Bayou Rifles, but you are not sure what equipment is needed or how the matches are run? Then this class is for you!

In a nutshell, Across The Course matches consists of shooting an AR-15 at bullseye targets from 4 different distance and position combinations - Standing at 200 yards, Sitting at 200 yards, Prone at 300 yards and Prone at 600 yards.

In this class you will learn from experienced shooters what equipment is needed to participate, how matches are run, what the safety rules and protocols are during matches and how to sign up for matches on the club calendar.

As part of the class you will have the opportunity to get into the different positions with service rifle as well as shooting a service rifle at 200 or 300 yards.

The cost of the class is $25. The duration is estimated to be 3 - 3.5 hours.

The class will start at 8 am. The class will be at the Juliff range, 300 yard line on the front 200/300 yard range.

The link below is to a document which serves as the basis for the structure of the class. It is recommended that class participants give this a read-through ahead of the class. It will also give you a good idea of what Across The Course is about:

When you register you will be asked questions about your level of experience with position shooting, shooting with a sling etc. Do not feel intimidated by these questions, no experience besides general rifle shooting proficiency is needed for the class. The questions are there to allow us to adapt the class to the experience level of the participants.
